Our yarns: Polyethylene

Polyethylene (PE) - abrasion-resistant and durable

When manufacturing our products, we consistently focus on quality and performance - and this begins with the selection of the right Yarnsbecause the selection of the right yarn material is a decisive factor for the performance and durability of technical textiles such as our rubber ropes. One of the four specialised yarn typesthat we primarily use is Polyethylene (PE).

Polyethylene is characterised by its very low weight, good abrasion resistance and high breaking strength. It also offers exceptionally high abrasion resistance and cold resistance. With its wire-like structure, it is ideal for technical applications, fabrics or protective textiles, for example, where maximum durability is required or mechanical stress and longevity are paramount.

Properties and advantages of polyethylene

  • Very low weight and low density - one of the lightest yarns
  • High tear and tensile strength
  • Very good abrasion resistance - Extremely resistant to wear
  • Low elongation - Dimensionally stable under load
  • Low moisture absorption - Practically water-repellent
  • High lubricity - Very low coefficient of friction
  • Low surface energy - Hardly any dirt or water adhesion
  • Melting point: depending on type
  • Operating temperature: up to approx. 80 - 100 °C
  • Very good cold resistance - remains flexible even at low temperatures
  • Excellent chemical resistance - Insensitive to many acids, alkalis and many solvents
  • hydrophobic - absorbs hardly any water
  • UV-sensitive - tends to age in sunlight without additives
  • Difficult to glue and colour - due to the low surface energy
  • recyclable - Good thermoplastic recyclability

Polyethylene offers many advantageous properties when used as a braiding material, which are ideal for many applications. However, you don't have to stick with just one yarn for your rubber cord: the combination of of different yarns by means of double braidingthe properties of different yarn materials can be combined with each other.

Our rubber types: Natural rubber

Natural rubber as an elastomer for high-quality rubber ropes Natural rubber, technically known as NR (natural rubber), is a proven, renewable elastomer material with outstanding elastic properties. In our rubber rope production, we use natural rubber wherever maximum elasticity, high resilience and particularly dynamic elastic behaviour are required. The precise processing of the natural rubber core and the coordinated textile braiding create [...]
