Our yarns: Polypropylene

Polypropylene (PP) - light, robust and versatile

When manufacturing our products, we consistently focus on quality and performance - and this begins with the selection of the right Yarnsbecause the selection of the right yarn material is a decisive factor for the performance and durability of technical textiles such as our rubber ropes. One of the four specialised yarn typesthat we primarily use is Polypropylene (PP).

Polypropylene is a thermoplastic material. It is characterised by its high resistance to moisture, chemicals and mechanical stress as well as its low weight. PP yarns are available in many colours and are cost-effective compared to other synthetic fibres, making them ideal for applications where an economical solution with solid performance is required.

Properties and advantages of polypropylene

  • Low weight and low density - one of the lightest synthetic yarns
  • High tear resistance - Stable despite low weight
  • Good abrasion resistance - Resistant to mechanical stress
  • Good elasticity - retains its shape
  • Low moisture absorption - Dries quickly
  • High chemical resistance - Resistant to many acids, alkalis and solvents
  • Good fatigue strength - withstands repeated loads
  • Melting point: approx. 160-170 °C
  • Operating temperature: up to approx. 100 °C permanently
  • Low thermal conductivity - Has a slightly insulating effect
  • hydrophobic - absorbs hardly any water
  • colourfast - can be produced spun-dyed
  • recyclable - Fully thermoplastically recyclable

Polypropylene offers many advantages when used as a braiding material, which are ideal for many applications. However, you don't have to stick with just one yarn for your rubber cord: the combination of of different yarns by means of double braidingthe properties of different yarn materials can be combined with each other.
